Maya Bizri is a self-taught Lebanese mixed media painter who has always been fascinated with behavior.
Formally trained – and currently practicing – as a psychiatrist, her art draws inspiration from everyday interactions and urban scenes which may be otherwise dismissed as mundane.
Her paintings are influenced by cities she has lived in, both in the Middle East and North America. Her art practice experiments with texture and media including acrylics, oil, dry pastels, spray, and latex paints along with embroidery and fresco-inspired touches.
Her current series pays tribute, albeit in color, to Beirut her hometown, which has been unfortunately depicted in recent year in very grim and dull light.
